Founder and President

Wanda Roberts is the Founder and President of the Christian Roberts Foundation, a community driven, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing shoes and supplies to the homeless and low-income communities in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, as well as providing scholarships to students who are victims of gun violence.
Born and raised in Washington, DC, Wanda attended the University of Maryland in College Park, MD where she pursued her Computer Science degree. After 3 years of schooling, Wanda took a break from school to get married and raise her family but returned some years later to earn her Bachelors degree in Information Systems Management with a minor in Project Management for IT Professionals from the University of Maryland University College in College Park, MD. Wanda was also very active in church and attended Ministry School where she earned a certificate in Bible Ministry in 2004. She also became an ordained minister shortly thereafter at her local church where she preached sermons, led the New Members Ministry, taught in children's church, and led counseling groups.

Wanda loved to help the community by providing food, clothing, and shelter to those in need, along with assisting young people with finding employment. To formalize her community involvement, Wanda established People Do Care, Inc. a 501(c)(3) organization, whose purpose is to provide support to low income women and children. In addition to running the People Do Care organization, Wanda worked at various corporations in the Information Technology and Cyber Security industries. Wanda is currently a Cyber Security Senior Manager at a Fortune 100 Company, and also an active participant in multiple community service projects in the Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD areas.

Wanda was married in 1982 and had 3 children. She and her husband moved their family to Silver Spring, MD in 1994 which has been their residence for over 35 years. Unfortunately, their youngest child, Christian, was shot and killed at the age of 24 in 2019. Christian was also very active in supporting the homeless community and his death had a significant impact on his family, friends, and those that he supported. As such, Christian's death sparked the desire to establish the Christian Roberts Foundation under the umbrella of People Do Care where the Foundation strives to keep Christian's legacy of helping the community alive.

Wanda has always had a desire to support others in need, and she has a special place in her heart for young people. Wanda knows that there is a great population of crime, social and economic issues in the Washington, DC area, and many minority youth are incarcerated or victims of the city’s senseless violence. With her own personal encounter with life’s unfortunate circumstances and understanding the importance of support and education, it is her desire to take part and strive for a change. Her desire is to give others who are less fortunate the same opportunities that were afforded her.
