The 1st Annual Scholarship Gala is a premier fundraising event with the goal of raising educational funds for young men and women who are survivors of gun violence or who have lost an immediate family member to gun violence.  Each year in the U.S., over 33,000 Americans are killed by gun violence, and more than 84,000 are injured. Gun violence is the third leading cause of death among American youth – and homicide–by–firearm is the leading cause of death among youth ages 15–24.  From 2011 to 2021, nearly 18,500 children ages 17 and younger died by firearm.  From 2019 to 2021, the firearm death rate among children increased by 50%.  This translates to seven children per day dying by firearm in 2021.  The Christian Roberts Foundation’s goal is to lend a helping hand to students affected by gun violence to ensure that they continue striving for higher education.
